Nerkissa Curtis EdD, MSN, CRNP, PMHNP-BC is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with over 21 years of experience in healthcare. She is passionate about providing thoughtful, evidence-based mental health care that is accessible, supportive, and personalized.

Her journey in healthcare began in 2004 as a registered nurse, with nearly two decades of experience working on medical-surgical and trauma units at USA University Hospital. In addition to clinical practice, Nerkissa has spent more than 15 years as a nursing educator, mentoring and preparing future nurses at the University of South Alabama College of Nursing, where she continues to serve on faculty. She holds a Doctorate in Education and a Master’s in Nursing Education, reflecting her deep commitment to lifelong learning, academic excellence, and advancing the nursing profession.

In her psychiatric practice, Nerkissa specializes in working with teens and adults (ages 13 and older), supporting clients managing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma-related conditions, ADHD, and stress-related challenges. She also provides compassionate care for individuals navigating the emotional complexities of pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.

Nerkissa believes mental wellness is never one-size-fits-all. She takes a holistic and collaborative approach—listening carefully, asking thoughtful questions, and developing treatment plans that align with each client’s values, lifestyle, and goals. Whether through medication management, coping strategies, or ongoing therapeutic support, her priority is to ensure clients feel seen, heard, and empowered.

Through secure telehealth services across Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Virginia, and Washington, Nerkissa works to reduce barriers to care—making high-quality mental health support accessible from the comfort and privacy of home.
